How to Fix LRC Timing

When synced lyrics appear early or late, you usually do not need to start again. Open the existing LRC or SRT file, find the lines that need correction, adjust their timestamps, and export the corrected file.

What you need

An existing LRC or SRT file with lyrics and timestamps.
The audio track used to check the timing.
A browser that can play the selected audio file.

1. Open the existing subtitle file

Open MakeLRC, choose your audio file, and load the existing LRC or SRT file. MakeLRC reads the timestamps and keeps each timed line available for editing. The imported file is processed in the browser.

If the file contains no usable timestamps, add or paste the lyrics and use the recording workspace to create new timings instead.

2. Identify the timing problem

Play the audio and watch when each lyric line should appear. Check whether the problem affects every line or only one transition.

Every line is early or late: check the first timestamp and compare the audio track with the file before changing individual lines.

Only one line is wrong: replay the transition and adjust that line in the editor without rebuilding the rest of the file.

3. Adjust the affected timestamps

Use the editor to change the start time of a line. Review the surrounding lines after each change so that the order remains sensible and adjacent lines do not overlap unexpectedly.

Make small changes first. A correction of a few tenths of a second can be enough when the words are close to the beat.

4. Export and check the corrected file

When the timing looks right, export the result as LRC for a music player or as SRT when you need subtitle timing for video. Open the downloaded file in the target player or editor and check the first, middle, and final lines.

Common causes of bad timing

The audio version differs from the version used to create the original timestamps.
The first timestamp has a consistent offset that shifts the rest of the lyrics.
A line was split or combined differently from the source lyrics.
A player interprets the file format or timestamp precision differently.
